What No One Is Talking About - Male Accountability
What No One Is Talking About - Male Accountability

People loudly voice outrage over abortion as an unethical and illegal act, yet remain conspicuously silent when it comes to demanding repercussions for child abusers, sexual predators, and fathers who abandon their families. But, why should we expect culpability for today's predators when our nation is led by yesterday's ruthless power-hungry elites? How can we demand responsibility from future wrongdoers when today's leaders—those very savages who clawed their way to power—remain untouchable and unaccountable?

As I scroll through social media, I'm struck by a troubling pattern: men dictating what women should be, warning of lonely futures with cats as punishment for independence; romanticizing bygone eras while conveniently glossing over the coercive control they represented. What truly disturbs me isn't our freedom to forge our own paths—it's the persistent expectation that women bear responsibility for men's failures. These same voices demand our unquestioning obedience while offering nothing in return for our safety, wellbeing, or dignity. Rather than examining their own conduct, they blame us for our choices: our clothing, our destinations, our words. They refuse to confront the uncomfortable truth: that many women would genuinely prefer "the bear".

We reject the confines of society's predetermined roles without fear of isolation or unhappiness—the very threats used to control us. Our genuine concern lies elsewhere: children ensnared in trafficking and subjected to horrific abuse; women assaulted and then compounded by a legal system that traumatizes them further; and women whose lives are valued less than potential life by individuals who will never experience pregnancy's risks or responsibilities. The harsh truth emerges clearly: men perpetrate these harms as the primary actors, while uninvolved men escape nearly all consequences for their complicity and choices.

As genuine transformation remains elusive, women will persistently choose the security that independence provides.
