If You Don't, Who Will?

Whether or not other people like you, doesn't matter at all if you don't like yourself. It sounds basic but think about times you've been alone.. did you enjoy it; get overwhelmed, decide you needed to be out socializing? It might be more than your social butterfly personality pushing you to be in constant company.

In order to fully discover the self, you have to quiet your mind, body and soul. Not just a 30 minute meditation but consistently over a period of time; and once feel perfectly content being alone, you're ready to share your time. Not only that but the quality and connection will be much better. You will gravitate to 'your people'. The ones that share interests; complement your personality and lifestyle; who don't seek your willingness to change but aren't afraid to bring up subjects that challenge and excite you.

Just remember you still need to have that down time for yourself; for reflection, relaxation and recharge. This is immensely critical for empathic individuals - absorbing all the energy of others, good and bad, can be exhausting.

There is no recipe for self discovery but a good place to start is with a personal inventory.
